I was looking at an old picture of myself, with a relaxer and a Black Power t-shirt. I thought about how I have the same ideas, principles and thoughts about the Black experience and what it means and how to improve it then as I do now. However, due to my appearance it wasn't EXPECTED of me and sometimes when voiced, not even ACCEPTED from me.
At the end of the day, to be successful, there can be no mandate on what POWER to the PEOPLE looks like. What's most important is your principles, standards and behavior. Don't judge me by my appearance, take a look at my actions.
